EASA Class 1: more information We have collected the information about the content of the aeromedical examination class 1. Make an appointment for a Class 1 examination A Class 1 medical certificate is valid for 12 months, unless you are 40 or over and carry out single pilot commercial air transport operations carrying passengers; or you are over 60. In both these cases, the validity is reduced to 6 months. To be issued with a with an EASA Commercial Pilot’s Licence, you must be the holder of a valid class 1 medical certificate issued by the same EASA member state who will issue your licence (the ‘State Of Licence Issue’, or ‘SOLI’). To exercise the privileges of the licence your class 1 medical certificate must remain valid. In order to exercise the privileges of a pilot, you need an EASA Class 1 medical certificate.
